JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Gift Shop Clerk, your primary responsibility will be taking orders and consulting with guests to determine the best way to give the gift of Parkesdale. We offer a variety of unique products and listening to the customer is key. You will assist customers throughout the store, whether they are at check-out or in need of general customer service. Many customers place online gift orders and filling those orders, following up for accuracy, and handling any concerns will be a main focus. In addition to outgoing orders, you will also handle unpacking, pricing, and merchandising incoming current or new gift inventory to display items the best. At Parkesdale, we also offer special classes and events seasonally. Communication of those events, prep, check in, and guidance at the event will be a unique role in this position. Gift Shop Clerks are dedicated to pairing the perfect gift with the wants or needs of the guest and know that overall satisfaction drives future sales by both the giver’s experience with us and receivers’ future business.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic Math
  • Interpersonal Communication/Written and Verbal Communication
  • Customer Service: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Leadership in a lead, manager or supervisor role: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Shift availability: 8:30am 6pm
  • Weekend availability: Full availability is needed. Expectation: 3 weekdays and 1 weekend day.

Responsibilities
  • Positively greet customers when entering or leaving establishment
  • Process and troubleshoot online/ phone/ in-person orders professionally
  • Handle cash, credit or check transactions accurately with customers
  • Assemble gifts meticulously according to diagrams or customer wishes
  • Ensure pricing is correct
  • Issue change, receipts, refunds, or tickets accurately
  • Increase sales by way of cross-selling products, identifying complementary ones, or introducing missing/ new products
  • Resolve customer complaints or questions by guiding them, providing relevant information, and taking ownership while not resulting to a blame method
  • Bag/ box items carefully and strategically
  • Merchandise incoming inventory to include stocking, pricing and display
  • Maintain clean and tidy display, storage, and checkout areas
  • Keep reports of transactions
  • Focus attention to detail
  • Handle general customer calls professionally and timely return calls
  • Pleasantly serve customers to ensure excellent brand satisfaction
