Title: GIS Administrator / GIS Systems Support Consultant
Type: Contract – 12+ Months (Possible Extension)
Location: 100% Remote (10–20 Hrs/Week)
Department/Agency: OIT – Office of Information Technology
Role Overview
The consultant will maintain and support the geospatial infrastructure (ArcGIS & SDE), manage upgrades, and reduce the current backlog of work. Responsibilities include system maintenance, project planning, enhancements, and adherence to OIT’s software policies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong GIS administration experience in Azure environments.

  • Proficiency in SQL Server / Oracle database administration.
  • Familiarity with geospatial data types and web application support.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online in Azure.
  • Administer ArcGIS Server & ArcSDE (multi-user versioned editing, archiving).
  • Manage geodatabases (SQL Server / Oracle RDBMS) in Azure.
  • Install, configure, monitor, and tune GIS systems.
  • Support ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap (Desktop 3), and GIS applications.
  • Develop/maintain scripts, models, geoprocessing tools.
  • Deploy GIS services, data services, and web applications securely.
  • Design GIS architecture to integrate new/emerging technologies.
  • Work directly with end-users to capture and refine requirements.
  • Provide system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance optimization.
  • Conduct and evaluate system testing.
  • Ensure compliance with MaineIT governance policies.
