Description
Description Position performs GPS surveying activities to collect precise location data of the District’s water and sewer facilities. Imports the collected data into the District’s Geographic Information System (GIS) and edits the data to depict the as built facilities in a mapping format consistent with generally accepted industry standards. Essential Functions Interprets information from recorded maps, engineering plans, etc. for GIS entry. Assists in maintaining the District’s GIS/GPS equipment. Creates GIS application solutions utilizing ESRI and other tools. Reviews and verifies GIS digital files and related databases. Uses GIS software to query location, relationships, etc., of map features and data. Generates products such as reports, maps, and exhibits using GIS software. Provides technical support to the system’s users. GPS data collection of District assets as needed. Provides related duties as needed. Requirements A. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: GIS knowledge of Rutherford County Valid Tennessee Driver’s License and good driving record. B. KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor of Science degree in Geoscience or related field. Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Two years of GIS experience preferred - specifically; ESRI GIS software, computer hardware operating systems; land base information; methods and techniques of engineering; basic knowledge of sewer and water and/or facility inventory functions; mathematics, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics; map design and cartography; and survey principles. Two years of ESRI suite experience (ArcGIS – Desktop, Pro, Online, Survey123, Collector, Web AppBuilder, Operations Dashboard, Workforce, Business Analyst, etc.) Two years of experience developing and supporting ArcGIS web applications. Two years of experience supporting ESRI hardware (geodatabase, server maintenance, end point support) Two years of experience coding using the following programming languages: Python, HTML, ArcGIS Arcade FAA Part 107 sUAS license required or able to obtain. Knowledge of SQL Server preferred Good knowledge of Rutherford County’s road system SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED: Ability to gather and analyze data. Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings and related plans. Ability to resolve problems and/or complaints. Ability to read scientific technical journals, technical manuals, maps, etc. Practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions, and measurement. Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries. Ability to think independently within the limits of policies, standards, and precedents. Effective interaction with others within the organization. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: physical demands under which the job is performed: Work is a balance of field work in a variety of settings and weather conditions and office work.
