EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor in GIS, Environmental, Geology, Archaeology or related field.
  • 0-2 years of related GIS experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and perform basic GIS analysis
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines concurrently, including prompt communication of potential delays
  • Ability to describe technical information with clear and concise language to produce high-quality figures
  • Ability to work extensively using a computer screen and keyboard
  • Ability to develop/maintain proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proficiency with the latest GIS technology (ArcGIS Pro, AGOL, Field Maps, etc)
  • Proficiency in GIS data conversion, analysis, and editing
  • Ability to setup GPS Field Maps application to support field teams
  • Demonstrates excellent cross-functional team collaboration skills
  • Consistently displays a positive/respectful attitude toward supervisors and peers
  • Shares knowledge readily and participate in team communication and activities
  • Works in a highly organized manner and with strong attention to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Archaeology experience and familiarity with cultural data especially Class III survey’s
  • MS in Archaeology or GIS
Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE:

To create and review output from remediation GIS task requests from internal and external clients to ensure deliverables are generated in accordance with North Wind guidelines or contract requirements as needed and follows and industry standard GIS methods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintaining and updating GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security.
  • Utilizing GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, or other relevant platforms.
  • Working with other professionals, environmental scientists, and engineers, to integrate GIS data into their projects.
  • Creating maps and other visual representations of geographic data to communicate findings and support decision-making.
  • Create and upload files to GPS units to support field crews. Download and process GPS data to integrate into GIS platform.
  • Be familiar with North Wind GIS procedures and templates
  • Prepare comprehensive and professionally created figures
  • Perform peer review of deliverables to ensure accuracy and consistency with project requirements
  • Monitor workflow for incoming GIS requests and manage backlog and due dates
  • Manage time spent and other performance metrics as requested by supervisor
  • Communicate effectively with North Wind staff and management
  • Work under direct supervision of senior GIS analysts and supervisors
