JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Geospatial Services, P&R Business & Technology Transformation, the GIS Application Analyst will be responsible for contributing to the divisional GIS strategy in P&R by creating and maintaining spatial datasets, configuring applications, and providing guidance to project teams.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  • Post-secondary education in GIS or related field, or the approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Considerable experience with ESRI suite of products including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS, and various Microsoft applications including SharePoint.
  • Considerable experience in performing geospatial data analysis, compilation, organization and interpretation and dissemination on large and complex datasets in various formats and applications.
  • Experience in the development, integration, support or maintenance of asset management systems including spatial data collection, data extraction and reporting, GIS analysis or metadata input and maintenance.
Responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains geospatial data.
  • Coordinates implementation of maintenance and access procedures to support users and assist with the implementation of geospatial data linkage in divisional applications.
  • Liaises with divisional and corporate partners in support of divisional or corporate initiatives related to data and spatial applications including strategies, policies and standards.
  • Works with divisional and corporate partners on integration of divisional geospatial data with the enterprise geospatial data repository.
  • Works with project teams on the design, development and implementation of conceptual, logical, and physical data models and the integration of geospatial information within each.
  • Reviews applications and “off the shelf” software products and makes recommendations for usage.
  • Participates in the selection, recommendation, testing and evaluation of software products to support the development, maintenance and validation of the division’s asset data.
  • Develops and improves customized programs and applications dedicated to geospatial data access and processing.
  • Participates in the selection and recommendation of appropriate software products to support the development and maintenance of the division’s spatial data repository, and its linkage to corporate geospatial data systems.
  • Participates in the development of the divisional strategic plan for data architecture and data warehousing, and provision of a single repository for geospatial data.
  • Facilitates requirements gathering for geospatial products and support by using geospatial data and technology.
  • Maintains state of the art awareness of open systems modelling and repository techniques including distributed data maintenance and access, object oriented technologies and data warehousing.
  • Integrates data from external sources to support divisional data requirements.
  • Integrates new desktop, web and mobile GIS technologies.
  • Provides technical advice and troubleshooting for geospatial data and technology issues.
  • Identifies and documents user’s geospatial information and technology products.
  • Documents geospatial products and support procedures.
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation relating to geospatial products.
  • Attends committee and working group meetings as required.
  • Provides training and support to end users on GIS and geographic data.
