About our Team: You will be part of a team who use US insurance, property, weather, and other geo-spatial data from the various sources and platforms, to support our product suite of US property insurance underwriting and pricing.
About the Job: We are seeking a passionate and experienced GIS Data Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geospatial data handling and processing, proficiency in working with large volumes of data, and a deep understanding of various types of geospatial data, and strong data handling and processing knowledge in general. You will be responsible for processing and automating data workflows using advanced technologies and cloud platforms.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience in a GIS data analysis role
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation a plus
  • Experience with database management systems such as PostgreSQL and PostGIS a big plus (or good knowledge of a similar RDBMS)
  • Proficiency in using open-source geospatial tools like QGIS
  • Experience in workflow automation (Pentaho Data Integration)
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
  • Ability to handle and process large volumes of data efficiently
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities
  • Collecting, processing, and analyzing geospatial data, including weather-related data (flood, wind, hail, tornado/hurricane), property location data
  • Managing and integrating diverse datasets from varied sources such as census data, weather and property data
  • Designing and implementing data processing workflows to ensure efficient data handling
  • Automating data processing workflows using tools and scripting languages; Python, Pentaho Data Integration
  • Utilizing open-source software such as QGIS for geospatial analysis
  • Managing geospatial databases using PostgreSQL or equivalent RDBMS
  • Working with cloud technologies like AWS and Azure for data storage, processing, and analytics
  • Developing and maintaining documentation for data processes and workflows
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support data needs and analytic projects
  • Ensuring data quality and integrity through rigorous validation and cleansing processes
