About the role This position is a summer GIS internship position where the successful candidate will receive hands-on technical experience from one of the Midwest’s premier GIS-services providers. As an intern, you will gain practical experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and geospatial data analysis. You will work closely with our GIS team to support the design, development, and maintenance of GIS-based applications and tools. This role will provide exposure to the application of GIS technology in real-world scenarios, helping to solve complex spatial problems and enabling data-driven decision-making. This is a full time (40 hours per week), seasonal/temporary position. Exact start and end dates will be discussed with final candidates. What you'll do Perform GIS data cleanup and quality assurance tasks. Conduct field inventories to support mapping projects. Complete parcel edits and maintain accurate parcel layers. Create web mapping applications for various GIS projects. Perform database edits and ensure data integrity. Support public works and utility network mapping projects. Work with address data and other spatial datasets with a high level of detail and accuracy. Qualifications Pursuing a degree in GIS, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (2+ years completed). Ability to learn data collection procedures and GPS equipment. Familiarity with ArcGIS desktop and online products. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Basic knowledge of geospatial concepts. Preferred Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with additional experience in any of the following areas: Experience using ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Online. Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, or other related programming languages. Utility design or inspection experience. Cadastral maintenance, Surveying, Remote Sensing, or LiDAR derivatives. Data collection experience.
