NORCAN Consulting Ltd. is a small, privately owned Archaeological Resource Management Consulting firm. Established in 1994, our team has provided dedicated and experienced archaeological assessments on over 7000 developments for clients and communities throughout Central British Columbia. Norcan’s vision is to integrate a variety of resource management professionals to enhance resource planning. As a resource-based operation, we endeavor to meet and surpass the productive, ecological, cultural and recreational needs of our clients while fostering a stewardship ethic for the land and affected First Nations.
The Position
Norcan is looking to add to our Geographic Information System (GIS) department. Under the supervision of our GIS Department Head, the successful candidate would assist in developing maps for various reports and for field crews out in the Interior of B.C.’s forests, as well as producing spatial data in the format of shapefiles and KMZs. Maps and spatial data must meet the requirements of the Archaeology Branch of British Columbia. The successful candidate would be required to produce maps and the necessary spatial data within a short time frame as needed by the Director of Operations, Field Directors, and the Document Administrator.
Qualifications
- University Degree or Certificate in GIS & Geo Spatial Data.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of the resource consulting industry.
- In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Well-organized and self-directed.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $28.50-$35.00 per hour
