Description
Position Description: Reporting to the Supervisor, GIS or designate, the incumbent will be expected to carry out a variety of tasks relating to various aspects of municipal land use planning functions, such as: Assist GIS staff with development applications. Archive planning files. Research and analysis relating to the County Official Plan, Zoning Bylaw and Secondary Plans. Undertake special projects as assigned. Qualifications: College or University Student enrolled in a discipline related to Planning, Environmental Studies or Geography. Valid Ontario Class “G2” Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle. Computer expertise with preference given to students with advanced knowledge in engineering specific programs such as CAD, GIS; and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel). Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act. Understanding of how a municipality functions and an interest in being part of improving that. Ability to visualize concepts and turn them into workable solutions. Excellent listening skills, coupled with a desire to learn new concepts. Good time management, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. Experience in the general operation of office equipment, i.e. photocopier, fax, etc. Note: Must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays. Employment is conditional upon: attendance at all training sessions, submission of required documentation/certification, adherence to the minimum age requirements and ability to meet the employment term. At time of application must be enrolled in a post-secondary education institution or institution of higher learning.
