Overview Herzog Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a detail oriented GIS Technician in St. Joseph, MO to join our team. Duties and Responsibilities: *This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Travel for field survey of railroad corridors and assets. Prepare for and conduct surveys using a variety of common and proprietary equipment. Maintain good working relationship with customer personnel. Review survey data using HTI and third-party software to extract, identify, attribute, and verify data. Combine and cross-reference data sources to build a complete dataset. Generate output data in a variety of formats. Work with HTI and customer personnel to ensure and verify completeness, quality, accuracy, and integrity of data. Create survey reports, release notes, and other documentation of GIS work. Ensure that data, reports, and other deliverables meet HTI's professional standards. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent Certificate or Degree in GIS (or related field) is preferred but not required Excellent communication skills Ability to work independently and in teams Excellent problem solver and quick learner Ability to work with, interpret, and synthesize a variety of data sources Proficient in Excel Ability to observe railroad safety procedures and follow safety-related instructions and signals Experience using ArcGIS or another Geographic Information System (GIS) preferred but not required Familiarity with Google Maps or Google Earth preferred but not required Pre-Employment Requirements: Pass and maintain e-RAILSAFE pre-employment background check and safety certification. Subject to motor vehicle report review. Maintain valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position. Pass pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position. Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis. Physical Requirements: *This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job. Able to walk on uneven surfaces Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time. Regularly kneel, bend, and squat Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position. Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position. Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet.) Able to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
