  • Approx. 12 months from running first GD - salary rise to £28,500 - £29,500 to run 6-8 Giving Days per year

We are looking to recruit a Giving Day Officer to join us on our graduate/training scheme within our welcoming and friendly Digital Fundraising Team. A Giving Day is a fun and exciting fundraising campaign allowing our clients to reach a wide range of their institution’s community within a short space of time with the use of social media and email communication. A Buffalo Giving Day is project managed from start to finish by one of our Giving Day Officers, which is where you could come in!
As a Giving Day Officer, you’ll take the lead on planning, coordinating, and delivering impactful Giving Days from start to finish. Each project runs over several months to allow for the set up process for the Giving Day itself, with weekly collaboration alongside your client (a University or School), external partners such as graphic designers, and Buffalo’s in-house teams. Clear communication and strong relationship-building are at the heart of this role, as you’ll work closely with your client to design their bespoke Giving Day website and shape the events and activities that will both celebrate their institution and drive meaningful social media engagement.
You’ll need confident IT skills to manage and prepare client data ahead of the Giving Day. Experience with Excel, Access, CSS coding, or Mailchimp is a plus, but not essential. A flair for writing is also important, as you’ll draft compelling emails and create engaging social content. Creativity and organisation go hand-in-hand here—you’ll work with your client to develop imaginative challenges and events designed to inspire giving and energise their community.
An intrinsic part of the role is to see it all come together on the Giving Day itself. This will be an extremely busy time so you must be happy to work under pressure. You might need to go onsite to assist your client on a face to face basis with the activities and events taking place, as well as ensuring that the emails and social media content are sent out at the correct time so flexibility and being able to remain calm under pressure are key.
Following the Giving Day you will help your client to wrap everything up by ensuring that the correct information is imported back onto their database. You will finish the project by meeting your client to present them with your data-driven report of all of the processes that took part during the whole campaign.

This role is currently offered as a fixed term, 2.5 year scheme which would see you run 12-16 Giving Days in total with the following proposed salary and bonus structure:

  • Training period (approx. 3-6 months) – salary of £24,000
  • To complete your training and qualify as a GDO you will shadow one Giving Day and successfully be the key contact for another while being observed and supported by another member of the team
  • Salary rise to £24,500 - £25,500 after qualifying to run 6-8 Giving Days per year
  • Approx 12 months from running first GD - salary rise to £28,500 - £29,500 to run 6-8 Giving Days per year
  • Company benefits including 24 days holiday, flexible working hours, casual dress, paid volunteering days, Employee Assistance programme and regular staff social events.

At Buffalo we are passionate about diversity and inclusivity. We are striving to become a company which represents the diversity of the world as whole. We welcome applications from all and are an equal opportunities employer.
