GLASSING PREP OPERATOR AT MASCO CANADA (ON-SITE – ST. THOMAS, ON)

1.0 Position Summary:
A Glassing Prep Operator is responsible for completing pre and post glassing tasks on the moulds. The Glassing Prep Operator is accountable for ensuring consistent preparation of moulds allowing for a seamless glassing application and transition to the next stages of the operation.

2.0 Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Adhere to instructions received by Production Supervisor regarding the products for specific shift
  • Communicate with previous shift Glassing Prep Operators to ensure all parameters of the spray booths, the schedule and the set-up are in line with company standards
  • Collaborate with Forming Operator to ensure necessary shells are produced for required daily production Cyriac had mentioned planning should own this. Do we know who currently does it?
  • Strategize the fixture configuration with available shells to prevent production loss
  • Load shells on fixtures ensuring proper fit and consistent application
  • Inspect fixtures for damage or excess build up and tag them for service/cleaning
  • Apply materials to secure the shell and protect the fixture during glassing operation
  • Upon completion of glassing, demould shell from fixture to continue production
  • Assist changing fixtures, as required
  • Consistent quality inspection of shells including occasional reinforcing
  • Complete work orders and sign
  • Communicate to Lead Hand or Production Supervisor as required
  • Consistently meet or exceed production targets and quality
  • Other duties as required

3.0 Health & Safety:

  • Maintain a safe workplace
  • Wear Personal Protective equipment as required on the shop floor
  • Comply with the company policies, procedures, and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
  • Participation is required in our internal responsibility system (right to know, right to refuse, right to participate)
  • Follow safe work and lockout / tagout procedures as required
  • Report unsafe conditions or hazards as soon as possible to your supervisor
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Adhere to and maintain WHMIS 2015 requirements
  • Annual medical surveillance may be required

4.0 Quality:

  • Follow all area work instructions and procedures in order to ensure quality standards are adhered to
  • Report any potentially defective or damaged products or packaging to the quality dept, Lead Hand and your Supervisor
  • Follow the control of non-conforming product procedure for any defective products found in your area

5.0 Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with the Masco Canada Product Compliance Management System

6.0 5S:

  • Ensure your work area is maintained at required daily 5S standards
  • Take 5 minutes at the end of your shift to follow the daily 5S standards as posted in your area
  • Sign off on the 5S checklist daily (initial and date)
  • Correct any deviations from 5S standards immediately or write it down on the cell board for follow up
  • Adhere to 5S standards within the areas that you work in
  • Place material and products in the appropriate locations only
  • If applicable, take 5 min at the end of the shift to bring your work area back to the outlined 5S standard
  • Correct any deviations from these 5S standards immediately

7.0 Daily Management:

9.0 Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow work instructions
  • Ability to use JDE system
  • Ability to pull (30 lbs), push, bend and lift (up to 25 lbs)
  • Ability to grasp components
  • Ability to stand up to 10 hours
  • Ability to comprehend the English language
  • Ability to work well in a team environment

10.0 Educational Requirements:

  • O.S.S.D or equivalent
  • Successful completion of all tests related to the position

11.0 Additional Skills / Knowledge Requirements / Other:
