We’re looking for a Global Category Manager who will be responsible for managing a strategic procurement team that will take responsibility for the strategic category management of parts and components related to products that are manufactured and refurbished by Aggreko. The categories will include sub-categories such as engines, alternators and switchgear.

  • This role can be based anywhere in the UK.

You will develop and execute category strategies using your market expertise, and implement these with strategic suppliers, in addition to managing their respective contracts and performance / relationships.
The team will need to work closely with a variety of stakeholders across the organisation; this will include close working relationships with the regional procurement teams responsible for operational procurement and product managers, for example, as well as strategic suppliers.
In addition, Category managers and leads will support the supply chain and contractual requirements for new or existing products under development to ensure a commercially competitive and lowest risk supply chain that will be managed by the Manufacturing or Service Repair Centre procurement teams.

YOU’LL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong experience of direct procurement, preferably within direct equipment and components
  • Strong leadership capability to lead a distributed team with a proven track record in achieving team targets.
  • Experience in engine, power generation, equipment manufacturing would be preferable although we will consider candidates with a strong background from other industries.
  • Commercially savvy, customer focused, and results driven
  • Technically minded: able to understand and learn about a wide range of products and applications, especially where your experience may not be within engines or equipment manufacturing.
  • Strong negotiation and contract development experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills - communicates clearly and effectively with all levels of stakeholders (internal and external)
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Lead, manage & coach a team of category managers and/or category leads to create a high-performance culture, ensuring the team has the appropriate resource in the appropriate positions.
  • Nurture individuals in the team to grow for the benefit of the individual and the organisation. Manage their performance development plans to provide a clear path to meet their development needs.
  • Engage proactively with the regional businesses and the product management teams around the world.
  • Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships and the supply contracts that support the in-house builds, plus the refurbishments managed by our Repair Centres.
