JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Global Category Manager will report directly to the Director of Strategic Sourcing and lead, direct and manage the development and execution of a global spend category strategy inclusive of procurement, sourcing, contract, and vendor relationship management. The global spend category also includes Sourcing leadership for the three Mexican facilities. Work independently or under little supervision to perform Strategic Sourcing for assigned product portfolio to minimize cost, mitigate risk, improve product quality and optimize assurance of supply.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for collaborating with global business and procurement managers within the Hub and Spoke Model to set the global strategic and tactical direction for sourcing efforts related to spend category, ensuring integration with business vision and strategy.
  • Create Category Sourcing Strategies and deploy process throughout company by effectively communicating category strategies to the business unit and R&D leaders.
  • Understand and monitor key spending trends, cost drivers, market factors, geographic considerations and strategic importance of critical materials in order to implement appropriate sourcing strategies/
  • Manage and facilitate all facets of the procurement activities for category including vendor evaluations, site audits and continuous improvement process for all suppliers.
  • Locate, analyze, develop and maintain a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future needs of all purchased materials and services.
  • Lead enterprise-wide negotiations for business terms and develop contracts for the supply of both standard and complex products and services with new and existing suppliers. Collaborate with Legal in regards to contractual terms.
  • Evaluate complex situations to develop and implement a preferred solution for the maximum benefit.
  • Lead supplier business review process to drive continuous improvement in cost, delivery, and quality performance.
  • Uphold company fiduciary responsibilities; actively ensure and maintain adherence to company standards and values, business controls, ethics, policies and procedures, and professional standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process by leveraging Lean Six Sigma

Additional Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Must have strong understanding of sourcing process, analytics, negotiations, costing exercises, make versus buy and market intelligence.
  • Ability to use PC’s and associated software.

Working knowledge of sourcing systems such as Ariba and ERP systems.

EDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • BS/BA degree with 6-8+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
