Description
The Global Classroom Educator Fellowship (GCEF) is a pilot-year professional learning community designed for Washington State K–12 educators, with a focus on the greater Seattle area. Each year, the World Affairs Council selects a cohort through a competitive application process based on demonstrated leadership, commitment to full participation, interest in global learning and civic engagement, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to a collaborative cohort experience. Through monthly virtual sessions, quarterly in-person workshops and field experiences, and collaborative projects, Fellows explore strategies for connecting global issues to local contexts—helping students think critically, engage thoughtfully, and understand the interconnected world around them. The program aligns with Washington State Learning Standards and strengthens educators’ capacity to foster civic engagement, cultural understanding, and real-world learning in their classrooms.
