POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Global Controller will play a pivotal role within the finance team, overseeing the financial operations across multiple regions. This role is responsible for global financial reporting, managing internal controls, ensuring tax compliance, and regulatory adherence in various countries. We are seeking a dynamic leader passionate about driving process improvements and managing complex projects. This role reports directly to the CFO and manages a diverse team, including regional finance managers and external accounting firms.
We believe that we’re better together. Our team is hybrid and requires applicants to live commuting distance from a Blueair office (NYC or Chicago Loop) and be in-office Tuesday-Thursday.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (advanced degree preferred). CPA or equivalent certification highly preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in a senior-level accounting role with global oversight; 10+ years of overall accounting experience (in a multinational environment highly preferred).
  • Extensive experience with general ledger functions and the global month-end/year-end close process.
  • Thorough knowledge of international accounting principles and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of global tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency with global accounting systems and software
    Pay: The base salary pay range for this position is $150,000 to $170,000 per year. Blueair takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
    Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Responsibilities

Global Accounting Functions & Financial Reporting

  • Ensure transactions are recorded in full compliance with international accounting standards and local legislation.
  • Lead the global month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial submissions.
  • Oversee the maintenance of global balance sheet integrity.
  • Develop and implement global accounting policies and procedures; support internal and external audit activities.
  • Manage internal controls related to accounting, identify control gaps, and enhance processes.
  • Address ad-hoc business requests related to global accounting processes.

Management of Global Financial Operations

  • Oversee global accounts payable and receivable activities, supported by regional finance teams.
  • Provide guidance to ensure smooth operations and compliance with global control requirements.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to improve operational efficiency and achieve cost savings.
  • Continuously review and enhance global financial processes to maintain operational controls.

Tax & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure global compliance with tax and business registration requirements.
  • Review compliance status across all operating regions and resolve any issues.
  • Coordinate with tax advisors to review and validate global tax returns.
  • Lead the timely and accurate filing of all international tax matters.
  • Review and approve quarterly tax provisions and reconciliations for global tax reporting.
  • Work with the global tax team to optimize the company’s tax structure.

Team Development

  • Serve as a finance and accounting expert for the global team.
  • Provide guidance and support to regional finance team members.
  • Mentor, review, and develop plans for direct reports and regional teams.
