Company Description R25_0021612 This position serves as the primary Visual Designer and Design System owner for all products in the NielsenIQ portfolio. This hands-on leadership position offers the right candidate the opportunity to define, evolve and communicate the visual design language for a global market leading data product portfolio, expressed through a comprehensive, multi-audience design system. In this role the Lead Designer will: Empower a growing team of UX designers to deliver world-class user experiences for our customers Lead the operations of a centralized design system as the ‘single source of truth’ for designers, developers and product owners in large multi-national corporation. Define and govern all aspects of the visual language used across NielsenIQ’s digital products Manage a team of design & visual specialists as well as your own individual contributions Inspire design system compliance within a large team of full-stack UX Designers working in a fast-paced Agile environment. Collaborate with cross-functional groups to define & evangelize the best processes to governing an open-source design system Collaborate with creatives from branding and digital marketing teams to maintain style foundations and consistency with global branding Job Description Responsibilities: Lead the definition & upkeep of a full visual design language to serve a converging portfolio of data products, including, foundations, components, standards, patterns, and design tokens Lead the management of the design system - to communicate the design language - through design components, linked with corresponding code components and documentation Collaborate with UX leads, product leaders and tech partners to define the vision, strategy, and ways of working for an open-source design system to remain relevant, scalable and adoptable across all audiences. Work with tech teams and product leaders to ensure products are compliant with standards Review the design artefacts from designers across multiple teams to ensure compliance to standards within a fast-paced schedule. Resolve day-to-day tactical issues of compliance. Manage and develop a small team of dedicated designers, while coaching and upskilling the wider UX team in visual design Ensure visual designs are researched, explainable, systematic, scalable, validated, feasible and meet expected criteria for modern software Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the UX Team; process, culture, etc. Qualifications Undergraduate degree (degree or coursework in the following is an advantage: graphic design, human computer interaction, design, digital arts, information science) 10+ years’ experience in UX / Visual Design, working in corporate software, interactive agency or internet consulting environments. Experience constructing a visual design language with a systematic, methodical approach Mastery of component-driven UX design tools. Figma proficiency is essential. Experience creating, maintaining and governing a Design System (preferably in Figma) Experience designing data visualizations or data products a huge advantage. Strong communication (verbal and written), organization and people skills. Experience in cross-functional collaboration with tech and product partners Ability to build trust, credibility and lead in a matrixed organization. Strong knowledge of user-centered design principles, processes, and techniques. Commercial awareness Additional Information This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation of the following range: $92,000.00 - $94,780.00. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role might also be eligible for a sales-based incentive or performance-based bonus.
