GENERAL SUMMARY

The Global Director of Human Resources leads and manages the full spectrum of HR strategy and operations across Oceana. This role combines strategic planning with day-to-day operational leadership, including talent management, employee engagement, compliance, performance, recruitment, compensation, DEI, and HR systems.
The Director ensures Oceana’s HR practices and policies support a mission-aligned, results-driven culture and scale effectively with the organization’s global growth. This position manages a team of HR professionals and partners with leadership, staff, and regional offices to build organizational capacity, equity, and impact.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree: master’s in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred or a combination of education and experience will be considered
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Experience in a global, mission-driven, or advocacy organization is strongly preferred.
  • SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or similar certification is desirable.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and international labor laws, HR best practices, and compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated success in DEI leadership and creating inclusive workplace strategies.
  • Excellent organizational development, change management, and leadership coaching skills.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems (e.g., ADP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Analytical skills to use data to shape decisions and measure success.

    The salary range for this position is 160,000 to 180,000 annually

    Oceana’s U.S. offices have operated on a hybrid schedule and staff have been required to work from their assigned office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. With agreement between the employee and their supervisor, the employee may work remotely Monday and Friday.
