The role of Global FP&A Analyst is intended for a data-driven finance professional with 3+ years of post-designation professional experience (Chartered Accountant/Chartered Management Accountant) or similar work experience in the FP&A field at a MNC. This role reports to and supports HOYA Vision Care’s (HOYA VC) Global FP&A Manager. The role is located in its Amsterdam office.
This role requires an ability to work in multicultural teams across multiple time zones, continents, and disciplines and might need to have limited international travel.
This role works with other Global FP&A analysts located in its Amsterdam office and its Bangkok office to provide the stakeholders with timely, accurate and insightful financial analysis and help them to make informed business decisions.
This role will work on a number of financial performance management matters at the HVC level, including but not limited to monthly/quarterly/yearly results analysis, New Product Development financial support/analysis, quarterly budgeting, global function cost analysis, product/customer profitability analysis.
- Conduct and improve monthly financial analysis to assess business performance against budget, previous years, and trends, including profitability and operational efficiency.
- Identify areas for improvement and provide actionable insights to management.
- Understand the business, risks, opportunities, and data needs to produce best-in-class reporting.
- Develop deep analysis and understanding of contribution margins and gross profit margins through a sound comprehension of underlying data and systems.
- Strengthen financial planning and analysis processes and data collection in a complex reporting environment to deliver accurate budgeting, reporting, and analysis in a timely manner.
- Drive and enhance in-depth analysis to identify risks and opportunities, supporting quarterly budgeting projections. Identify key budget-to-actual variances with meaningful analysis.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure business performance.
- Provide insightful and in-depth analysis of key product categories to support product leads in global marketing for informed decision-making.
- Communicate with regional and local finance teams to improve P&L analysis capabilities and understanding of contribution and gross margin fluctuations (actuals vs. budget).
- Collaborate with other FP&A members and global HQ to analyze total company profit per product and customer, working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, GKA, Local Finance, Marketing, and Instruments teams.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data, market trends, and industry benchmarks.
- Strengthen and maintain a robust competitor analysis framework.
- Act as the financial focal point in BPS and NPD projects, ensuring a sound financial control framework is in place.
- Advise, partner with, and challenge NPD non-finance stakeholders to develop informed business case recommendations for top management.
- Work with functional leadership teams to forecast project costs and profitability, evaluate product modifications, developments, and rollouts to best serve HOYA VC’s interests.
- Ensure post-NPD implementation is adequately analysed, benefits are tracked, and shortfalls are identified.
- Support continuous improvement in BPS and NPD processes.
- Work with other FP&A team members to support function leadership teams to drive HQ function cost controlling agenda and improve the cost control visibility, accountability and ownership, and help identify cost improvement opportunities.
- Evaluate and analyse HQ functional financial performance on a monthly/quarterly/yearly basis using actual and budget data, including understanding and tracking of the main drivers of the performance and cost development/evolution.
- Perform ad hoc analyses to support various business functions.
- 5+ years of progressive work experience in a multinational environment
- 3+ years direct FP&A and/or finance partnering experience
- Extensive knowledge of accounting and financial processes (financial closure, consolidation, reporting, budgeting, etc.)
- Experience in a global manufacturing organization with experience in investment assessment, project controlling, esp. in the areas of new product/technology development and marketing/promotion spend, preferred
- Good understanding of project financial assessment metrics (NPV, IRR, Payback, etc.)
- Strong scenario building skills and proven ability to perform complex numerical calculations and prepare detailed management reports in a timely manner
