Job title: Global Head of Digital Biologics Platform, Large Molecule Research Platform (LMRP)
Location: Cambridge, MA
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD in Biology, Chemistry, Computational sciences or related field
- Minimum 15 years of work experience in computational biology, or digital-related discipline
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Demonstrated experience managing initiatives and projects in a complex, matrix organization
- Successful track record in leading projects and teams in Research
- Recognized thought leadership in the industry in the areas of digital transformation and drug discovery
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work transversally
- Project management experience
Responsibilities:
- Defining and executing on LMRP’s data, digital and AI near-, mid-, long-term strategy in support of Sanofi’s overall business strategy
- Building of next generation AI-driven biologics discovery and design pipelines together with Digital and global LMRP consisting of the computational engine and requisite laboratory platform and automation technologies
- Establishing and implementing data governance and acquisition practices across LMR with the support of an imbedded direct report at each LMR site, in collaboration with the R&D Data Office
- Developing the framework for foundational data exploitation: the base capabilities for exploiting data across LMR, including data and infrastructure for sustaining future advanced applications. This includes provisioning of tools, advocating for appropriate infrastructure and working with the LMR global organization on building expertise to expand use of data for daily decision making and operations, for monitoring platform performance, and for performing specific computational biology-related functions (e.g. structure prediction/modeling, predictive modeling and data-mining for discovery and drug design)
- Defining and implementing AI method validation, acceptance and operationalization processes with the goal of maintaining rigor in the practice of drug discovery, applying AI efficiently, and on applications with the most value
- Co-managing data and ML operations together with Digital team to ensure state of the art computational platforms (e.g. enabling automated monitoring and update of predictive models with newly accumulated data)
- Leading the DBx (Digital Biologics) group which consists of a matrix organization of scientists across global LMR that are executing on digital initiatives across the spectrum from foundational to advanced AI applications
- Overseeing change management within the LMRP organization as it undergoes digital and AI transformation, including defining new Ways of Working and workforce upskilling
- Computational platform innovation: development of new or extension of computational platforms, as complement or alternative to lab platforms, covering benchmarking work, exploratory ML applications, upgrading computational infrastructure and methods (e.g. new software, higher throughput, greater performance (time), better accuracy and reliability)
- Working in close collaboration with the Head of Innovation to set the strategy and goals to ensure Sanofi attains a leadership position in biologics Innovation.
- Managing the portfolio of strategic external industry and academic collaborations, in partnership with Digital
