Job Description OVERVIEW: Location: RedQ, Sepang Department: People & Culture Entity: AAAMS Status (Full time/part time/contract): Full Time YOUR ROLE AS A HEAD OF TOTAL REWARDS The Head of Total Rewards at AirAsia is a strategic leader responsible for architecting, executing, and continuously enhancing the Group’s Total Rewards strategy across all entities within the Global region. This role is pivotal in aligning rewards programs with AirAsia’s business priorities, performance-driven culture, and employee value proposition. You will lead the design and governance of compensation, benefits, long-term incentive plans, wellness, and recognition programs across the AirAsia ecosystem—ensuring fairness, competitiveness, and sustainability. A key aspect of the role is to establish AirAsia’s Group Compensation Philosophy, drive the Pay-for-Performance culture, and champion innovative long-term incentive (LTI) programs to reward sustained contribution and leadership impact. What You’ll Do Strategic Leadership:Partner with the Head of Human Resources to define and implement AirAsia Group’s Total Rewards philosophy, ensuring alignment with business strategy and the People First culture. Rewards & Benefits Frameworks: Develop and oversee pay, recognition, and benefits frameworks across all markets to ensure fairness, transparency, and market competitiveness. Governance & Compliance: Ensure all rewards and benefits policies comply with Group governance, legal standards, and public-sector regulations, maintaining a robust and compliant operating framework. Policy & Systems Development: Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and HR systems that enable business growth and enhance the employee experience. Annual Remuneration Cycle: Lead the annual salary review and reward process, ensuring fairness, equity, and alignment with Group strategy and financial goals. Corporate Governance Reporting: Partner with the Governance team to prepare and present committee reports and management papers, ensuring insights and recommendations are delivered accurately and on schedule. Job Evaluation & Pay Structure: Oversee job evaluation methodologies and maintain consistent grading structures that promote internal equity and reward fairness. Market Benchmarking:Conduct regular market pay and benefits benchmarking to ensure competitiveness and reinforce AirAsia’s position as an employer of choice. LTI Program : Drive the design and delivery of impactful long-term incentive plans that align performance with business growth, boost retention, and strengthen shareholder value—ensuring compliance, seamless execution, and market competitiveness. Pension & Payroll Oversight: Maintain oversight of pension and payroll operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with total rewards strategy. Legislation & Best Practices:Monitor changes in employment law and market trends, assessing their impact on policies and ensuring legal compliance and agility. Diversity & Inclusion Impact:Evaluate the equality, diversity, and inclusion impact of all HR and reward policies, ensuring a fair and inclusive employee experience. People First Alignment: Continuously align the Total Rewards Strategy with AirAsia’s People First vision — recognizing, rewarding, and inspiring employees to reach their full potential. WHO YOU ARE: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CCP, GRP, CEBS) are advantageous. 10+ years of progressive experience in Total Rewards, Compensation & Benefits, or HR strategy roles. Minimum 5 years in a leadership capacity managing regional or group-wide functions. Leadership: Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills. You must be comfortable and credible advising C-level executives. Global Mindset: Extensive experience in designing and implementing reward programs that cater to a diverse, cross-cultural, and global workforce. Proficiency in HRIS and compensation systems (e.g.Workday). Proven success in designing and implementing long-term incentive programs and executive compensation frameworks. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data into actionable business insights. Deep understanding of market benchmarking, job evaluation methodologies (e.g., Hay, Mercer, Towers Watson or AON), and pay governance. Open to global talent with proven Regional or APAC experience ideal for leaders ready to bring their expertise to Malaysia and make an impact across a fast-growing, dynamic organization especially those from Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan or China.
