POSITION SUMMARY

Center for Global Health Equity initiatives build on health as a universal value – human health, environmental health, and community health – which requires the investment of all disciplines and many partners to advance. Projects focus on diverse topical areas mentored by UVA faculty in collaboration with local institutional leaders. The Global Health Training Coordinator will be primarily involved in programs related clinical training for medical students and clinicians within the School of Medicine. Guidance to the Coordinator will be provided by the Director of Global Health Training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Experience: Six years of experience. Bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, tact, and diplomacy skills.
  • Strong writing, formatting, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Strong track record of problem-solving and issue resolution.
  • Ability to track and communicate program status, updates, and key metrics

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicants must be organized and highly detail-oriented with an appreciation and respect for different cultures. The incumbent will be comfortable working independently, possess excellent critical thinking and customer service skills. They will have the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, troubleshoot issues, and provide recommendations for workflow and process improvements. We expect that the person who joins the team will be highly collaborative and extremely comfortable with change. A self-starter with high reliability, integrity, and a “can do” attitude, with the ability to communicate respectfully with global partners is required. A successful candidate is creative and takes initiative to develop workable solutions to problems when answers are not readily apparent.

Responsibilities
  • Support the administration of CGHE clinically oriented programs and awards including: CGHE Scholar Award in Medicine for medical students, Global Health Leadership Track for graduate medical trainees, and clinical partnership site administration for global sites that host UVA clinical learners, among others.
  • Work efficiently and collaboratively with global partners, internal departments and Schools, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Provide administrative and financial coordination between faculty and international partners
  • Track the progress of clinically oriented initiatives across teams to meet project needs
  • Develop and maintain multiple project schedules, resource plans, and status reports, tracking key metrics including trainee participation, cost, timing, and staffing.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, document key discussions, and drive action through follow-ups with task owners.
  • Help prioritize and organize tasks to ensure timely progress.
  • Proactively identify gaps, potential delays, or issues in workflows.
  • Anticipate executive needs and prepare materials or data in advance.
  • Anticipate and escalate barriers to leadership.
  • Draft documents and prepare annual reports with the Director of Global Health Training for the clinically oriented programs and initiatives.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned to best support the needs of the Center.
