This role is based at our headquarters in Saint Paul, MN. Primary Objective of Position The Global Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing domestic and international transportation activities to ensure cost-effective, compliant, and timely movement of goods. This role serves as the primary point of contact for freight providers, customs-related matters, and internal stakeholders, while driving continuous improvement in freight spend, carrier performance, and shipping accuracy across the organization. The specialist plays a critical role in navigating global trade regulations, tariffs, and free trade agreements, supporting business growth and customer satisfaction while mitigating financial, compliance, and operational risk. Areas of Accountability Manage and resolve inbound and outbound customs shipment holds caused by duties and taxes, documentation gaps, incoterms issues, or country-specific requirements Stay current on tariffs, trade regulations, and real-world events impacting global logistics operations and provide guidance to stakeholders Actively manage global freight spend with a focus on cost control, transparency, and continuous savings opportunities Partner with Finance to ensure freight charges are coded accurately and aligned with budget expectations Audit domestic and international freight invoices for accuracy, including freight charges, duties, taxes, and special rate application Maintain relationships with core freight providers (parcel, LTL, and international carriers), including UPS, FedEx, and other strategic partners Conduct periodic business reviews with key carriers to review performance, service levels, and rate structures Measure and report carrier performance, including on-time delivery and freight damage claims Provide domestic and international freight quotes within required turnaround times, typically within 24 hours Work closely with shipping operators daily to ensure shipment accuracy, with a focus on international compliance (incoterms, documentation, country-specific requirements) Prepare and provide certificates of origin and free trade agreement documentation for customers Requirements Required At least 2 years of experience in domestic and international logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations Strong working knowledge of international trade compliance, customs processes, incoterms, and shipping documentation Experience managing freight spend, auditing invoices, and resolving billing discrepancies Proven ability to work with multiple freight carriers and internal stakeholders simultaneously Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities Preferred Experience supporting manufacturing or distribution environments Familiarity with free trade agreements and certificates of origin Exposure to tariff analysis and global trade impacts Experience with freight management systems or ERP platforms Compensation & Benefits Starting annual salary for this role will be $70,000 - $85,000 commensurate with experience.
