Nutrition International’s Programs Unit is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of Nutrition International’s core program interventions including program development, design, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, and grant management, including setting annual operational planning, budgeting, and review processes. The unit comprises a global team of professionals located in our 10 core countries across Asia, Africa and our headquarters in Ottawa, Canada. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for a Global Portfolio Manager, Complex Nutrition to be based in Ottawa, Canada working hybrid 2 days/week in-office.

Nutrition International is looking for a Global Portfolio Manager (GPM) to support the growing portfolio of Complex Nutrition projects. The GPM is a crucial position within the Programs Unit, responsible for supporting the Global Portfolio Director (GPD) in the grant management of projects within the Complex Nutrition portfolio. The GPM will work with a global cross-functional team of internal resources in Head Office, Africa and Asia, to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and on budget. The GPM will ensure all projects in the Complex Nutrition portfolio are managed effectively and delivered according to their contractual obligations.

In this role you will:

• Collaborate across units to effectively support and manage the start-up, transition and closure of projects within the Complex Nutrition portfolio, ensuring seamless execution and adherence to timelines.
• Collaborate closely with project teams and cross-functional units/sub-units, including Corporate Services, Programs and MDL, Advocacy, and Communications, to design and develop annual workplans that align with project-level strategic objectives and operational goals.
• Provide capacity strengthening support to project team on project cycle management processes and tools.
• Work closely with Project Directors and Budgeting and Compliance Managers to ensure implementing partners consistently adhere to the terms and conditions outlined in their agreements.
• Guide project teams in aligning with Nutrition International and donor frameworks related to cross-cutting themes, including gender equality and social inclusion, environmental sustainability, to ensure integration across all stages of project implementation.
• Closely monitor budget variances and provide financial updates to internal teams to support informed decision-making and fiscal accountability and notify the GPD of anticipated budget variance at both agreement and project levels, enabling informed reallocation of funds across budget lines (as allowed by the donor) to maximize financial efficiency and programming impact.
• Assess opportunities for cost savings and budget realignment to optimize resource allocation and reduce overall annual expenditure from Nutrition International general funds.
• Lead the coordination of reporting workflows across the Complex Nutrition portfolio, collaborating cross-functionally with project teams, technical advisors, and the Monitoring, Data and Learning (MDL) sub-unit to ensure timely and high-quality reporting.
• Support and contribute to proposal development, collaborating closely with country teams, Programs and R&D units, and the Business Development sub-unit.
• Collaborate with country teams and the Communications sub-unit to develop impactful change/human interest stories to elevate the visibility and public engagement of portfolio projects.
• Collaborate with project teams, regional and headquarters-based subject matter experts and the MDL sub-unit to capture the experience and lessons learned of portfolio projects.
• Work closely with project teams and the MDL sub-unit to design and facilitate annual learning reviews workshops, driving reflective analysis and actionable insights that support adaptive management and enhance project effectiveness.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to the Portfolio Officer, fostering their professional growth.
• Assist in the development of presentations and internal project briefs for executive committee engagements and support engagement initiatives, including brownbag sessions with the Programs unit and Project Directors meetings in Ottawa.

The position will require regular travel to countries in Nutrition International’s program countries in Asia and Africa.
