As the Global Principal Material Handling, your deep technical expertise to lead and implement Global Engineering Material Handling Stream will play a critical role in delivering highly sustainable and predictable business, project and technical outcomes.
As a member of the Global Technical Excellence team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our global engineering material handling systems, processes and structure. To achieve this, you will collaborate closely with several regional and global stakeholder groups to ensure our project engineering designs and technical outputs meet the agreed standards of quality, designed reliability, and performance.

You will report directly to the Head of Technical Excellence in this global role where your accountabilities include:

  • Leadership: Lead and support the regional teams in the global implementation of a robust quality platform, ensuring consistent and high-quality delivery across all engineering teams worldwide.
  • Process Optimisation: Define, implement, and continually improve engineering quality assurance processes and methodologies, ensuring alignment with best practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Projects, Engineering Service Providers, Original Equipment Manufacturers, and Service Organisations to ensure quality outcomes are aligned to strategic business goals.
  • QA Strategy Development: Develop and drive the strategic vision for engineering quality assurance at a global level, including audit sample automation, staged performance testing, and continuous integration.
  • Trend Metrics & Reporting: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate quality performance across all regions. Provide regular reports to senior leadership on QA effectiveness, risks, mitigation and non-compliance closure performance.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies for engineering quality.

About You
We are seeking for experience Material Handling Technical expert with demonstrated leadership role where your experience in the global implementation material handling system in fast-paced, engineering-driven environment will be great value to the success of this role.

Your strong knowledge of engineering system design, layout and automation together with degree qualification in engineering related field are critical. To complement this the ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Vast experience in implementation and custodianship of system design and automation to safety, project management, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong proficiency in designing materials handling systems such as conveyors, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), cranes, lifts, and robotic systems.
  • Proficiency with software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo.
  • Expertise in automation systems for materials handling, including robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and control systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety standards such as OSHA, ANSI, AS, CAN and ISO 45001 related to material handling equipment and systems.
  • Familiarity with standards and regulations such as CEMA (Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association), ISO 9001 for quality management, and WSA / OSHA for safety.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working across departments such as manufacturing, design / engineering, procurement, and suppliers to ensure quality goals and business objectives are met.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address urgent quality concerns and implement corrective actions quickly.
  • Leading cross-functional teams in resolving quality problems using structured problem-solving methods.

While not mandatory, but highly regarded:

  • Knowledge of **Industry 4.0 technologies and smart systems for real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and autonomous material handling.
  • Experience with IoT (Internet of Things) sensors for real-time tracking, predictive analytics, and enhancing system performance.
  • Familiarity with energy-efficient designs and sustainable materials handling solutions, including low-energy conveyor systems and green logistics initiatives.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in the South American mining sector is highly advantageous.
