Job summary As a Research Assistant in the Western European Economics team, you will work alongside senior economists to analyse regional and global trends, and support their research and analysis. You will manage and improve data processes, maintain chartbooks and templates for regular publications, and assist with ad hoc data requests. You will be part of a collaborative team, contributing to research that shapes our understanding of Western European economies. Job responsibilities Support senior economists in analysing the Euro area, the UK and Scandinavian economies Liaise with economists to formulate views and assist with publications Work with data sets and databases, ensuring accuracy and efficiency Maintain and improve spreadsheets and data processes Compile and update chartbooks and templates for weekly, monthly, and ad hoc publications, including the Global data watch Assist internal sales and trading personnel with data requests as needed Contribute to a collaborative and intellectually stimulating team culture Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills Good knowledge of economics, with experience in analysing macroeconomic data Ability to work meticulously and independently with large spreadsheets and databases Advanced Excel skills Experience or knowledge of economic forecasting and modelling Good understanding of political, economic, and business developments Intellectual curiosity and interest in macroeconomics and markets Ability to write concisely and explain complex economic relationships Collaborative attitude and strong work ethic Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Experience with statistical programming languages or packages (e.g., Eviews, Python) Familiarity with data platforms such as Haver DLX or Bloomberg Master’s degree in Economics preferred J.P. Responsibilities
