BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr. Global Safety Specialist directs and coordinates efforts of the safety and environmental programs in order to create a safe work environment for all associates and meeting all compliance requirements.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid drivers license may be required.
  • Position requires up to 50% of travel
    Compensation starting at $63420 - $99660 depending on experience.
    The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidates relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.

Develops local relationship and maintains an on-going presence with CFC and assigned regional Branches including the following skill sets

  • Communicates to all stakeholders in written and verbal communication on regulatory affairs.
  • Understand and applies knowledge of computer databases to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Researches regulatory data and information utilizing the Internet and other available resources. Works with local Management Team to develop new procedures and practices within the CFC Operations Team.
  • Incorporates Safety into new Operations Strategies and Practices and audits results with Operations Team.
  • Manages special projects and tasks for CFC Management Teams.
  • Works with Regional Compliance Managers and Branch Managers on site opportunities and site Safety.
  • Sets, follows and meets project timelines.
  • Participates in cross-functional meetings.
  • Attends training and education seminars as appropriate to learn regulatory requirements.
  • Manages Global Safety functions within the CFC’s and Branches in the absence of the Director of Safety & Security.
  • Leads Teams as directed by the Manager of Global Safety as well as regional Management.
  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSCs vision and unity of purpose.
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as require
Responsibilities

Coordinates and helps to lead all day-to-day CFC Safety and Security functions such as:

  • Environmental Safety and Health regulatory compliance to applicable Federal (USA - EPA, OSHA, DOT, IATA, IMDG, FAA; or UK equivalent regulations) State and/or local regulations; ES&H assessments, ergonomic improvements/issues, safety equipment selection, safety awareness, safety team mentoring, MVP Team, ES&H training, Workers Compensation support for claims and issues and return to work, Incident investigation and corrective action follow-up.
  • Pilots and manages new Environmental, Safety and Security programs in the CFCs and branches to increase associate awareness and/or improve program execution.
  • Leads investigations such as Associate Integrity, OSHA, EPA, state and federal agencies.
  • Ensures designated facilities maintain compliance with all security measures that will include but not limited to access control, security operations and maintaining a strong physical security presence.
  • Leverage contracted site guards and guard supervisors and ensure all electronic security systems are in good working order at all times.
  • Works with all CFC and branch management to address opportunities and initiatives at the site.

Conducts Risk Analysis and Coordinates Actions to remove or mitigate at the base CFC

  • Based upon risk analysis may be tasked with developing new programs that apply to MSC locations.
  • Implements risk reduction and cost avoidance techniques.
  • Monitors techniques to ensure compliance.
  • Performs regulatory audits at the base CFC and at assigned regional Branch locations.
  • Develops, performs and manages compliance audit process at CFCs and Branches.
  • Develops, implements and manages ES&H compliance techniques.

Conducts Follow-up Incident Investigations and Supports Workers Compensation Cases

  • Coordinates claims loss analysis evaluations for CFC associates in conjunction with corporate claims management efforts at the CSC.
  • Recommends solutions to avoid similar incidents in the future.
  • Reviews all CFC Injury and Incident investigation analysis and follows-up, as necessary.
  • Develops and manages a partnership with local Occupational Clinics
  • Facilitates Return to Work programs

Implements Global Safety Corporate Programs at the CFC

  • Programs include but are not limited to: Powered Industrial Trucks, Lockout Tagout, Electrical Safety, Hazard Communication, Conveyor Safety, Safe Lifting, Personal Protective Equipment, Fall Protection, Aerial Lift Safety, Emergency Action Plans, Crisis Management Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, Machine Guarding, Ladder Safety, Ergonomics, Safety Awareness and Attitude, Pollution Prevention, Waste Management (Hazardous and Non-Hazardous), Waste Minimization, Recycling, Hazardous Materials Shipping
  • Leads and manages new Global Safety initiatives, as well as corporate and engineering initiatives.
  • Acts as lead Global Safety representative for MSC projects.
  • Acts as Lead Project Manager for assigned tasks and capital and non-capital projects.

Liaises and supports third party audits (i.e. Workers Compensation and Property Insurance Carriers) and develops responses to address identified concerns.

  • Implements Corporate standards for property conservation programs including maintaining emergency procedures
  • Manages ongoing scheduled audits with third parties and coordinates findings with corporate management as well as local CFC and branch Management.

Conducts and reviews effectiveness of Global Safety Training Programs (conducted by MSC training department or third party training programs) at the base CFC

  • Represents the MSC Safety effort as a field trainer/coordinator for CFC and Branches
  • Conducts training of Global Safety topics for Management Teams.
