This position serves as a conduit for the engineering, sales and project management group at FLSmidth, providing necessary feedback and recommendations regarding installed equipment in the field. It is desirable that the candidate be located within 30 miles from an international airport.

Your responsibilities

  • Comply with FLSmidth safety policies and support initiatives which include a zero tolerance for lost time incidents; comply with multiple customer site policies and procedures while maintaining the FLSmidth culture.
  • Demonstrate and promote safe work behavior at all times.
  • Actively participate in risk assessment and risk management activities.
  • Provide technical assistance with mechanical assembly, installation, commissioning and testing of FLSmidth equipment.
  • Assist with preparation of equipment assembly and checkout documentation and testing procedures.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and refurbishment.
  • Provide technical support to the Customer Service Aftermarket Sales department.
  • Proactively contribute to commissioning activities in accordance with the approved commissioning plan and procedures.
  • Provide feedback to engineering on field issues and offer recommendations for equipment design modifications and improvements.
  • Liaise amicably and professionally with all levels of customer and company personnel to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Assist with expediting and scheduling to achieve or exceed customer expectations.
  • Support Aftermarket Spares and Service Sales via the Customer Service Department (CSD) Sales and Service team.
  • Represent FLSmidth in all settings with the utmost professional image.
  • Recommend updates to drawings and registers as required in accordance with established company policies and procedures.
  • Report customer activities and sales opportunities by completion of CRM data sheets.
  • Perform onsite inspections of FLSmidth equipment and develop detailed report including operational recommendations.
  • Observe and execute all job responsibilities in accordance with established company policies and procedures.
  • Assume other duties as may be directed from time to time, including on-site training of personnel in accordance with FLSmidth Training Policies.
  • Required frequent remote and extended travel to fulfil Field Service duties

What you bring

  • Mechanical or metallurgical engineering degree required or 10 years’ experience working as a fixed plant operator or maintenance technician at a mine site
  • Travel 50-65% to remote locations to support equipment installation and commissioning
