JOB DESCRIPTION

On-site: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Battery Cell Manufacturing Facility in New Carlisle, IN on a full-time basis.

ABOUT SYNERGY CELLS

Synergy Cells is looking for talented individuals to support our Joint Venture between General Motors and Samsung SDI. In this new high-technology facility, Synergy Cells will cultivate the latest in battery cell manufacturing technology. With an investment of over $3.5 billion, Synergy Cells will be producing battery cells for GM electric vehicles.
Selected candidates will have the opportunity to learn new skills as well as influence processes and systems that will sustain industry leading performance.

YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or another business-related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working withing supply chain or purchasing in a manufacturing environment to include work measurement and work standards
  • 3 yrs Launch experience
  • 3 yrs of experience with contract management
  • 3 yrs of experience managing documents for dangerous good
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and lean material processes; Purchasing, Logistics, Receiving, Internal Material Flow, Scrap, Obsolescence, etc.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory/leadership role or management of contract teams
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, effective project planning in terms of resources, strategies, cost, and time, with ability to meet project timelines
  • Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
  • Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
  • Must be able to travel 30% of the time both Internationally and Domestically

WHAT CAN GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS):

  • Experience with GMS SLT implementation and execution
  • Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS)
  • Prior experience with varied Supply Chain office and floor assignments
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Process (CIP)

COMPANY VEHICLE: UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE REPORT REVIEW, YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN A COMPANY VEHICLE EVALUATION PROGRAM, THROUGH WHICH YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED A GENERAL MOTORS VEHICLE TO DRIVE AND EVALUATE. NOTE: PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE/LEASE A QUALIFYING GM VEHICLE EVERY FOUR YEARS UNLESS ONE OF A LIMITED NUMBER OF EXCEPTIONS APPLIES.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

You will be responsible for leading the internal logistics team in planning, engineering, purchasing and daily operations for the material availability to Synergy Cells manufacturing facility. Position will supervise a team of direct and indirect personal. You will provide employee development, training, and drive the performance management process as well as manage an efficient organizational structure.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Leading, guiding and directing a team that is responsible for executing deliverables in support of the Supply Chain organization’s business objectives.
  • Provides leadership within Synergy Cells Supply Chain to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded in all areas including customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product and financial initiatives.
  • Communicates within the function as well as other functions, external affiliates, regulatory agencies.
  • Responsible for supporting relationship management with logistic & material suppliers and service providers including purchasing of incoming raw materials
  • Responsible for supporting relationship with our customers at the GM facilities receiving cells.
  • Influences others within the organization to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.
  • Identify problems, update or modify work methods that may be complex in the work area without the benefit of defined procedures.
  • Promote GM’s values and makes customer-focused decisions.
  • Hold accountability for staffing, communicating, training and development, in addition to, directing and prioritization of work, evaluating performance, and removing roadblocks.
  • Provides technical leadership to team and interacts and collaborates with multi-functional teams to meet targets.
  • Lead team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures.
  • Lead the Supply Chain organization’s succession planning.
  • Understand your role would support our New Carlisle location but may include extended training time domestically and internationally
  • Keeps abreast of current product & process developments and trends in areas of expertise
  • Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities
