ABOUT THE JOB SUMMARY The Global Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing import and export compliance to ensure the accurate and timely movement of goods across international borders. This role oversees customs clearance processes, tariff classification, documentation accuracy, and adherence to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations as well as global trade compliance standards. The Global Trade Compliance Specialist partners closely with internal supply chain, procurement, logistics, and external customs brokers to minimize delays, reduce duty exposure, and maintain full regulatory compliance. This role is a hybrid role with three days onsite and two days remote. CORE DUTIES Prepare, review, and validate import and export documentation to ensure compliance with CBP, BIS, and other governmental regulations. Determine correct Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications, duty rates, and country-of-origin designations for all imported and exported products. Coordinate and monitor customs clearance with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics partners to prevent delays and ensure process accuracy. Maintain internal systems and databases with up-to-date tariff codes, trade program eligibility, and regulatory classifications. Conduct audits of customs entries, broker performance, and documentation accuracy to mitigate compliance risks. Identify and resolve discrepancies related to valuation, origin, classification, and regulatory requirements. Support compliance with trade programs such as USMCA, duty drawbacks, preferential duty treatments, country of origin, manufacturing affidavits, and surety bonds. Respond to internal inquiries regarding import/export regulations, documentation needs, and classification determinations. Monitor changes to global trade regulations, tariff schedules, and compliance requirements and communicate impacts to stakeholders. Reconciliation of entry summaries as well as updating material percentages and customer pricing. Other duties as assigned. Additional Duties: Support continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain and trade compliance functions. Assist in training internal teams on customs requirements and compliance procedures. Participate in system enhancements or ERP module integrations related to trade and customs. Provide support for special projects related to new product introductions or supplier transitions. Collaborate with other business units located in China, Thailand, and the Philippines on specific regulatory issues. Requirements JOB DESIRABLES AND REQUIREMENTS Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain and Logistics, International Business, or a related field; equivalent experience considered. 3–5 years of experience in customs compliance, import/export operations, or international logistics. Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and global trade systems (e.g., ACE, AES, or similar). Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) required. Trade Compliance credentials (CTSC and ECoP) preferred. Physical Demands: Physical demands are those of a typical office environment. Occasional travel may be required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations, HTS classification principles, Incoterms, and basic valuation/origin rules. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel. Proficiency with ERP systems (Syteline preferred). Experience with trade compliance software a plus. Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to interpret regulatory guidelines. Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and troubleshoot complex documentation issues.
