    The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a General Manager Assessments Applications and Panel Secretariat to provide a critical role at Offender Services, Post sentence Branch.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The General Manager, Assessment, Applications and Panel Secretariat is responsible for oversight and management of three functional teams within the branch:

  • Assessments: responsible for the assessment of eligible offenders to determine suitability for a post sentence order.
  • Applications: responsible for the management of court applications for eligible offenders deemed suitable for a post sentence order.
  • Panel Secretariat: supporting the operation of the Multi-Agency Panel and joint coordination and provision of services to offenders subject to the post sentence scheme.

Please note in this role you will be exposed to sensitive and explicit material relating to serious sex and serious violent offending on a regular basis.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Provide strategic management and leadership across the Assessment, Applications and Panel Secretariat teams.
  • Oversee the delivery of the assessment, applications and panel secretariat functions in accordance with relevant legislative requirements and ensure robust systems and processes are in place to support consistent, evidence based and timely decision making, efficient operation and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic and authoritative advice to senior management and the Secretary of the Department on operational and systemic matters relevant to the delivery of the assessment, applications and multi-agency panel functions, and the operation of the post sentence branch.

  • Demonstrated experience in providing leadership within a highly complex service delivery area within a legislative framework.
