Description
Design & development of Li-ion battery systems, racks and enclosures and power electronics products with emphasis on Thermal Engineering. Work with cross-functional PCB, Electrical, Regulatory and Industrialization Engineers. Essential Functions: - Lead a team of Mechanical & Thermal (CFD) Engineers to deliver full product from conceptual phase to mass-pro. Expected to drive development of best in class Thermal management solutions & thought leadership in thermal management Hands on knowledge in below areas required: Thermal layout, design and cooling solutions for battery packs consisting of cylindrical, pouch, prismatic cells and electronic components. Heat dissipation solutions using natural & forced convection. Hybrid cooling with Air & Liquid. Thermal/Mechanical Simulation softwares such as Creo/Ansys Derive the battery thermal loads and electronic component losses using datasheets and interaction with manufacturers. Sizing and selection of fans, thermal interface materials, heat sinks, heat pipes, spreader plates, cold plates. Thermal runaway simulation, preparation of digital twins is an added advantage. Design of parts and assemblies in CAD software Packaging design for sustainability; compliance testing to UN 38.3 Work with cross functional teams such as Electrical, PCB design, Regulatory to gather inputs necessary for Product Design Development of Simulation model incoroporating all the practical conditions and develop a Cooling System concept Selection of Cooling system components such as Cooling Fans, Heat sink, Heat sink Material & Profile, Shroud design. Part and assembly design for plastic injection moulding, sheet metals, weldments, rapid prototyping with plastics and metals. Design of cell holder and module layout for cylindrical/pouch/prismatic cells. Design and drawing representation of cell connector, bus bars, cell welding and insulators. Material selections to meet safety, functional and cost requirements. Domain skills -Cooling System design of Battery systems or Power Electronic Systems, such as UPS, inverters or DC-DC converters - Cooling system design using Natural convection, Forced convection, Liquid Cooling methods, etc. - Thermal modelling, simulation and Thermal design verification - Knowledge of Cooling system components such as Fans, Heatsink etc.. - 3D CAD modelling proficiency. - Knowledge of defining mechanical PWB outline drawings - Knowledge on DFM/DFA/DFS methodologies for mass production environment. - Knowledge on development of product with NPD, NPI Process Software skills 'Design tools, such as Solid Works, Creo, Pro E Simulation tools, Such as Flotherm, Ansys, Icapak MS Office - MS Work, Excel, Power Point etc..
