Duration of Appointment Academic Year Maximum Scheduled Weekly Hours 1 Job Description Summary To instruct basic skating techniques to various levels of our Learn to Skate program and help foster an appreciation for skating to the program participants. This position is an integral part to the success of our Learn to Skate program. Job Description Essential Duties Prepare and administer instruction to participants in the Learn to Skate program. Provide a learning environment that is engaging and encouraging. Participants are expected to advance through the progression of lessons by fully grasping and demonstrating the elements of each course. Work performed is highly complex, requiring a deep understanding of ice skating fundamentals and techniques. Classes meet 2-3 times a week for approximately 1 hour or 1.5 hours each day. Class sizes range from 6-12 per instructor. Requires extensive training and proof of level certification by the national governing skating body, USFS. Provide supervisory functions including, but not limited to, scheduling, determining training needs, preparing training materials, and conducting training sessions. Demonstrate evidence of advanced technical and customer support leadership, skills in mentoring, training, expert course management. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 5+ years competitive ice skating experience. Understanding of ice skating fundamentals and techniques. Extensive training and proof of level certification by the national governing skating body (USFS). Must be certified at Juvenile Freestyle or above. Work is mostly done without direct supervision. Provide support for divisional/departmental services. Must complete an Ohio fingerprinted background check.
