Job Details Level: Experienced Job Location: MPCC - Pebble Beach, CA 93953 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $30.00 - $35.00 Hourly Job Shift: Day SUMMARY Provide members and their guests with courses and practice areas which provide excellent playing conditions, exceptional turf management, resulting in a superior golf experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist Golf Course Superintendent, Director of Greens and Grounds and Assistant Superintendent in whatever manner necessary to achieve the standards set forth in the Golf Course Standards of Maintenance document. • Provide primary support system to Assistant Superintendent on assigned course. • Consistently manage, perform duties and carry out responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with and in support of the Club’s Mission Statement. • Assist the Assistant Superintendent with golf course personnel with regards to daily work assignments, time management, providing training in proper techniques, safety and motivation to ensure a highly efficient and effective work force. • Assist in management of projects on either course with ordering, planning and execution. • Learn all skills required for planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, trees and other landscaping on golf course. • Involved in learning the irrigation system on assigned golf course to the most efficient, effective operating level possible. • Communicate as necessary with golf professionals to discuss conditions of course, maintenance plans and scheduled events. • Insure that chemicals, petroleum and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. • Maintains required records and strives to minimize the use of chemicals and petroleum products. • Attend conferences and workshops as the Superintendent’s discretion. • Maintain a current knowledge of technical and turf innovations and changes that could affect the department’s operations. • Conduct daily facility security checks to ensure that all equipment is accounted for. • Ability to interact positively with supervisor, management, coworkers, members, and the public to promote a team effort and maintain a positive and professional approach. • Ability to produce a high volume of work in a timely manner, which is accurate, complete, and of high quality. • Familiarize yourself with and learn, on an ongoing basis, all Club policies and procedures. • Provide administrative support as assigned by Director of Greens and Grounds, Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent. • Support safe working habits and a safe working environment at all times. • Manages workload set forth by Superintendent. • Helps Assistant Superintendent with scheduling, workload and maintenance programs on assigned golf course. • May be asked to help on other golf course when needed. • Perform other duties as directed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage, supervise, motivate, discipline and evaluate assigned staff and other staff as necessary. • Ensure that time and attendance records are maintained on a daily basis. • Ensure all services to members are conducted in a highly professional and efficient manner. • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date departmental files and records. • Ability to come to work regularly and on time, to follow directions, to take criticism, to get along with co-workers and supervisors, to treat co-workers, supervisors and members/guests with respect and courtesy, and to refrain from abusive, insubordinate and/or violent behavior. • Support safe work habits of all staff and contribute to a safe working environment at all times. • Consistently maintain the ability to come to work regularly and on time. • Follow directions, get along with co-workers and supervisors, treat co-workers, supervisors and members and their guests with respect and courtesy, contributes to a positive and rewarding team environment and refrains from abusive, insubordinate and/or violent behavior. • Other duties and jobs may be assigned as needed by Director, Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent. • Reasonable accommodations made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Listed below are the qualifications that represent the knowledge, skills, and/or ability to perform this job successfully: • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Must be able to work independently. • Must meet legal age requirements for the position. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: • Working on a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred. • Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Private club, resort and/or hospitality experience preferred. • High school diploma or equal to a GED. LANGUAGE SKILLS: • Must speak and communicate in English. • Must be able to clearly communicate with guests, management and coworkers. COMPUTER SKILLS (FOR ADMINISTRATION OR MANAGEMENT POSITIONS): • Proficient in Outlook and Internet applications. CERTIFICATES & LICENSES: • Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US. • Valid Driver License is required. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment at MPCC ranges from winter time lows of 30 degrees to summer time highs to 80+ degrees. While performing these duties the employee may be exposed to outdoor and inclement weather conditions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to: • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. • Lift 25-50 lbs • Sit, stand, stoop, and walk for long periods of time. • Work outside for long periods of time. • Reasonable accommodations made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. GROOMING & UNIFORM: Some positions will be required to wear uniforms. Uniforms are the property of MPCC. Uniforms that have been tampered or destroyed will be the responsibility of the employee and disciplinary action will apply. • Hair must be clean and kept at a reasonable length. • All Food Servers, Culinary and Fitness personnel must wear their hair tied back. • No extreme dying or bleaching of hair is permitted. • Fingernails must be clean and well-trimmed at all times. • Antiperspirant or deodorant must be worn. • No visible facial or neck tattoos. • Cologne or perfume may be worn at a minimum. • Nametags must always be worn, unless your department has a specific policy to the contrary.
