Golf Course Maintenance
Are you the outdoors type and whether rain or shine like to be outside and active? We are seeking strong, energetic, reliable and dedicated individuals to join our Golf Course Maintenance department.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • No educational requirements; diploma or degree from a recognized turf grass management program is beneficial
  • Previous golf course or landscaping experience beneficial but not necessary
  • Knowledge or experience using lawn mowers, line trimmers, back pack blowers and hand tools (shovels, rakes etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license, minimum of “G1” level

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/REQUIREMENTS

  • Workshop and outdoor environments, mechanical areas, outdoors in extreme cool or warm environments in inclement weather,
  • Noisy equipment;
  • Potential temperature fluctuations;
  • Dust and outdoor atmospheric elements;
  • Working with and near heavy equipment;
  • Lifting (up to 100 pounds),
  • Twisting, bending, walking and movement on and within the surrounding areas of golf courses, moving up and down, carrying heavy items to different locations;
  • Frequent working around dust and outdoor elements, wearing PPE if required, working outside in inclement weather on a daily basis;
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for lengthy periods;
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions;
  • Required at times to work long hours, during the golf season, which will include weekends and statutory holidays.

    Pay: $17.50 - $19.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 24-40 per week

EXPERIENCE:

  • Gardeners: 1 year (preferred)
Responsibilities
  • Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks, and hillsides; edges cart paths; edges, rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
  • Sets tee markers and cups on greens daily; maintains ball washers; replaces tee towels and flags when needed; removes debris; sands and seeds tee and drop area divots; and cleans flowerbeds.
  • Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis, reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately.
  • Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans maintenance areas.
  • Waters and fertilizes tees, greens, and fairways, and under direct supervision of a certified applicator, sprays chemicals on landscaped areas.
  • Under the direction of the superintendent and assistant superintendent, the groundskeeper marks the course for cart control weekly; moves cart control barriers and replaces worn or lost ropes and signs; and may mark hazard and drop areas.
  • Helps in project work; assists in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds tees, greens and fairways.
  • Installs forms and lays walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools; repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems.
  • May be asked to operate mowers, dump trucks or other light equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned
