Starters are responsible for the orderly and timely movement of tee times, controlling the pace of play, and ensuring the golf course policies and dress code are followed in addition to providing guests high quality customer service.  Qualifications Duties include but are not limited to: * Interacts with golfers in a friendly, helpful manner. * Responsible for informing players of course conditions and local rules. * Responsible for maintaining a reasonable pace of play on the golf course. * Keep tee times moving on time and in an orderly manner. Starter Duties and Responsibilities  * Open the starter office at the beginning of each shift. * Check the sign-in sheet to determine who may already be out on the course. * Check the lock box and balance against the starter sheet against members and any non-members who may be playing.  * Open the safe and remove the cash box, daily envelopes, and guest bag tags. * Lock up cash when out on the course marshaling or away from the starter office. * Put out golfs balls, tees, and other items for sale. * Ensure the refrigerator is stocked with beverages for sale Marshal the course from hole 18 back to hole 1 to ensure the sign in sheet is in agreement with those who may already be out on the course. * Return to the starter shack and be available to coordinate an orderly flow of golfers on a first come first serve basis…(reserved starting times are not permitted) * If the course is very busy monitor / assign the appropriate starting hole for golfers to space golfers if necessary. * Depending on the number of players periodically marshal the course, recommended at least once every 90 minutes Marshalling the golf course  * Ensure all golfers are registered on the sign in sheet and that guests have paid. * Ensure complete compliance with PCC rules and regulations… when dealing with a golfer(s) who are not following the rules, calmly explain the rules and ask for compliance. For those golfers who refuse to comply or are argumentative, if possible, obtain the number on the cart decal or on the golf bag and report the violation and violator to the PCCHOA office.   * Ensure pace of play is maintained. * Ensure all golfers are properly attired. * Ensure only two golfers to each golf cart. * Ensure only four golfers to a hole (at Starter/Marshall’s discretion a five some may be permitted depending on play and pace of play). * Ensure all golfers have their own set of clubs. * Ensure proper distance is maintained from the tee boxes and greens except for those with blue handicap flags. Even with a blue flag a cart may not be closer than 20 feet to a green. (Per Americans with Disabilities ACT (“ADA”) Policy.  Operating the Starter Shack  * Be available to check in golfers, collect guest fees, issue guest bag tags, sell golf items and beverages. Periodically check the lock box when returning from marshaling the course. * Record all transactions and balance the cash box with the sign in sheet and golf items and beverages sold. * Daily turn in all documents. * Ensure all golf carts have a PCC decal and all member golf bags have a PCC bag tag. * Ensure all golfers are properly dressed. * Issue blue handicap flags upon presentation of appropriate documents. * Answer questions from homeowners and guests about the course and play. * Place any items found on the course in a lost and found box located in the players’ lounge End of Shift  * Empty the lock box, balance all sales and cash, checks and vouchers. * Return the cash box to the safe and lock it. * Balance cash receipts, receipt reporting by category and balance petty cash. * Lock the refrigerator. * Lock the starter office and the starter office window. * Lock men’s and ladies washrooms. * Ensure new sign in sheet for the next day is outside the starter office. * Other duties as assigned.  Knowledge and Skills  * General knowledge of Golf Course operations. * Ability to lift over 50 lbs. * Excellent customer service skills * Good written and verbal communication skills. Education and Experience  * High school diploma or its equivalent Licenses & Certifications * Valid Driver's License * Current Alcohol Beverage Control Certification Working Conditions * Non-Typical office environment (frequent standing, walking, talking, etc.), both inside activities and outside activities. * On-call, weekends, 24hr emergency, etc.) PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
