Description General Statement of Position: To insure the proper start of play, proper adherence to golf etiquette and our rules, watch for and prohibit those practices which cause damage to the course, oversee the driving range and the golf cars as well as the golf cars and driving range attendants. Representative Essential Job Functions: Maintains a positive community image for the District. Strives to maintain a positive environment among the District’s organizational divisions. Actively supports the Safety Policy and the District’s established loss control program, including training, safety rules, and developing ideas for the prevention of incidents, while providing a safe environment for Park District staff members and patrons. Reports to duty prior to starting tee times. Check-in golfers for their tee time and check their receipt to see what they have paid for: greens fees, cars, range balls etc. As representatives of the Channahon Park District, must be friendly, courteous, and firm but impartial in all contacts with the golfing public. Special privileges will not be granted to any person, including relatives, friends, co-workers, etc. Be capable of answering questions concerning: policies and procedures, golf rules and etiquette, course maintenance, course operations, course rules and requirements, green fee schedules. Be familiar with this golf course manual and must perform their duties in a standard manner in accordance with the regulations and procedures found therein. As needed throughout the day, the Starter will inform golfers to retain their position on the golf course, to replace divots in the fairways, fix ball marks on the greens, make sure that the golfers get to the 10th tee in a timely and efficient manner. Check-in golfers, check receipts, car tickets, range balls, etc. Relate to the public in a polite and positive manner. Keep golf cars cleaned and parked. Address slow play in a courteous and tactful manner to keep play moving smoothly and at a proper pace. Picks up any loose debris around the clubhouse, starters house, car staging area, practice putting and chipping greens, and driving range. Maintains a supply of range balls available. Oversees car and range attendants. Representative Marginal Job Functions: Ensures all non-Golfers have signed waiver in the Golf Shop before they are allowed on the course. Ensures golf cart drivers are 16 years of age. Dusts, vacuums, empties garbage cans, and cleans golf shop. Moves umbrellas and chairs from patio at the end of the day. Performs other duties relating to the position as directed or delegated Attends meetings, training sessions and seminars as assigned Assists other Park District staff members as needed Trash pickup Snow removal Shop and building cleaning Painting Washing Walls and Floors Cleaning Carpets Janitorial Duties Requirements Qualifications: Pleasant, professional, and mature individual with special skills in customer relations. Must be an experienced golfer with strong knowledge of golf rules and etiquette. Position Considerations: May be called upon to resolve differences with patrons, and must do so fairly and with good judgement. Will be exposed to widely varying outdoor weather conditions.
