The Law Society is the professional body for solicitors in England and Wales. Our Governance Officers support our elected and appointed members, who are solicitors drawn from a wide variety of legal practice and sectors of the community and help shape the direction and views of the Law Society.
In this role you will be one of the Governance Officers within the Legal Policy Directorate responsible for providing an excellent secretariat service to our expert policy advisory committees. The committees you will support are primarily the Access to Justice Committee, Civil Justice Committee, and the Housing Law Committee. This may be subject to change depending on capacity across Governance Officers within the wider Directorate.
Governance Officers also cover for one another on an ad-hoc basis during periods of annual leave or sickness.
In this role you will be primarily responsible for scheduling and making all necessary arrangements for the meetings of the above committees. This will include drafting agendas, minutes and action lists, and collating and distributing meeting materials electronically. You will keep accurate records of committee activity and respond to queries in between meetings. You will also assist with some of the processes for appointing the Society’s members to the committees.
