MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum three to five years’ experience in an administrative assistant and/or office support role.
  • Ability to follow verbal or written instructions and work independently to carry out assigned duties.
  • Tact and courtesy in dealing with co-workers, the public, and members.
  • Ability to organize and handle a variety of tasks.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Some knowledge of the federal and state legislative processes.
  • Interest in public policy strongly desired.
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Under the main guidance of the Director of Government Affairs, the Administrative Assistant assists in the overall daily operations of the Government Affairs Department by performing multiple levels of administrative tasks. This role will ensure and support smooth operations of the department while also assisting two other executives. This position is onsite only at our Los Angeles headquarters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Director of Government Affairs in all aspects of maintaining an organized office, including scheduling and maintaining the Director’s calendar and ensuring the timely filing of financial disclosure and other official documentation.
  • Provide light administrative support to two additional executives in their respective departmental operations.
  • Correspond with policymakers and industry staff.
  • Complete and submit travel expense reports, answer phones, digitize and archive records (as needed).
  • Assist with preparation of materials for National Board, Western Directors Council, DGA Political Action Committee (PAC), and Sustainable Future Committee meetings.
  • Perform research on issues of interest for DGA membership and staff as assigned.
  • Monitor hearings/markups in Congress and recently introduced legislation relevant to DGA membership and staff.
  • Assist DGA lobbyists in scheduling congressional meetings as necessary.
  • Monitor press and providing relevant stories to the Director of Government Affairs.
  • Assist with DGA Communications Department media monitoring, research and follow-up to DGA press and events.
  • Assist with special events, including DGA PAC events with members of Congress and governors and other in-person and virtual DGA events. Experience coordinating virtual meetings and events is a plus.
  • Work overtime and evenings, as necessary.
