ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Medical Degree.
  • GMC registration with no restrictions on license to practise or pending investigations.
  • Registered on the GP Performers List.
  • Postgraduate qualification or experience in leadership, quality improvement, or clinical governance.

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

Yorkshire Health Network (YHN) is a federation of all 16 GP practices within the Harrogate and Rural area of the Humber and North Yorkshire ICB (integrated Care Board). We are looking for an experienced GP Clinical Lead to work 8 hours a week. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of dedicated professionals who promote shared working and collaboration to support the sustainability of primary care for local people.
The post holder will harness a working environment which encourages teamwork and provide leadership, guidance and oversight of clinical governance. The Clinical Lead will work with the Operational Managers to provide high standards of patient care, compliance, service development and ensure key performance indicators are monitored, reporting both internally and externally as appropriate

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Leadership & Governance

  • Provide strategic medical leadership and guidance on complex clinical matters.
  • Ensure compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a CQC lead.
  • Provide oversight on clinical audits
  • Lead on quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety strategies.
  • Oversee the medical management of clinical incidents, complaints, and risk mitigation.
  • Liaise with CNSGP (NHS Resolutions) for YHN where needed.
  • Develop the clinical strategy with support from senior management.
  • Lead clinical governance of the clinical services undertaken with the support from the Clinical Services Manager.
  • Provide clinical oversight and review and amend clinical protocols as required.
  • Safeguarding lead.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures.
  • Ensure activities and services comply with organisational requirements for safety, quality management, confidentiality, and data protection, safeguarding, Duty of Candour, general duty of care, regulatory requirements, and other legal stipulations.
  • Attend contract review meetings with commissioners of delivered services alongside the senior management, as required.
  • Support the Board Chair and Senior management in representing YHN at meetings with partner organisations as required.

Patient Care & Service Development

  • Oversee the medical aspects of patient care for YHN.
  • Ensuring that the delivery of services is in accordance with equality legislation and protects all patients rights.
  • Ensure a patient-centred approach, promoting safety, dignity, and clinical effectiveness.
  • Ensure medical activities and clinical services comply with organisational and registration requirements for safety, quality management, confidentiality, data protection, safeguarding, Duty of Candour, general duty of care, regulatory requirements, and other legal stipulations.
  • Assist with prescribing within clinical services where needed.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for service development and innovation.
  • Support the integration of new healthcare technologies and treatment pathways.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest developments in the field.
  • Monitor safeguarding referral activity within the organisation including ensuring appropriate safety netting and reporting and attend any local safeguarding meetings.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead multidisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, and training sessions.
  • Provide support and guidance to other clinicians in line with YHN policy and procedures.
  • Conduct clinical supervision, appraisals, and performance reviews for General Practitioners.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture, driving excellence in care delivery.
  • Liaise with Practices, Primary Care Networks (PCNs), PCN Clinical directors, ICS (Integrated Care System) and local trusts and organisations.
  • Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement.
