Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnosis and Treatment Planning:Examine patients’ teeth, gums, and jaws to diagnose dental problems and develop treatment plans.
  • Preventive Care:Conduct routine check-ups and dental cleanings to prevent tooth decay and gum disease.
  • Restorative Procedures:Perform fillings, place crowns, and conduct root canals to restore damaged teeth.
  • Extractions:Perform tooth extractions when necessary.
  • Patient Education:Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary considerations, and preventive measures to maintain oral health.
  • Record Keeping:Maintain accurate and confidential patient records of treatments and ongoing care.
  • Infection Control:Ensure that all equipment and dental instruments are sterilized and maintained to meet infection control standards.
  • Collaboration:Work closely with dental assistants, other specialists, and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.

Key Requirements

  • Education:A Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree is required.
  • Licensing:A valid dental license and the ability to comply with all local, state, and federal licensing regulations.
  • Experience:Proven experience in various dental treatment and procedures.
  • Skills:
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with patients and colleagues.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail for accurate diagnosis and record-keeping.
  • Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of dental procedures, tools, and diagnostic methods.

Additional Details

  • Cosmetic Dentistry: May also offer and inform patients about cosmetic dental procedures.
