The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and delivery of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Southeast Queensland. The Quality and Innovation team provides clinical oversight and support t IUIH member services and is responsible for the service development and delivery of urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and family wellbeing care. This diverse team includes IUIH Data and Research, Logistics, Oral Health, Pharmacy, Policy, Social Health, and Regional Clinical Support. About the Role? We are committed to the delivery of best practice primary health care for our community in the Southeast Queensland region and we are looking for an experienced General Practitioner to join us. You should be passionate and dedicated to the continuous improvement of comprehensive and culturally appropriate primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Vocationally Registered (VR) General Practitioner Unconditional registration with AHPRA / Medical Board of Australia Current Medical Indemnity Insurance Ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, their leaders and health professionals, while respecting traditional culture, values and ways of doing business Eligibility to obtain provider number(s) in the required locations Minimum five years’ post graduate experience in a primary care setting Demonstrated clinical experience, in particular the ability to contribute to and support a medical/primary health care team and contribute to effectively planning and coordinating own and health team’s workload to achieve results. Demonstrated understanding of the health, social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in urban areas Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments, plan, implement, and evaluate clinical care and primary health care strategies, including appropriate investigations, treatment and referral Desirable, but not mandatory: Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities.
