Competency: Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications

Experience in GPON/FTTH

  • Familiar with ticketing systems and tickets workflow.
  • Experience in a NOC environment supporting enterprise or ISP networks.
  • Good knowledge of routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Familiar with networking principles, including TCP/IP, OSI model, subnetting, and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
  • Good knowledge of transmission equipment’s and technologies (Sonet, DWDM, etc).
  • Knowledge and experience with optical networks.
  • Familiarity with NOC-specific tools such as Nagios, SolarWinds, PRTG, and network monitoring protocols (SNMP).
  • Any industry certification is desirable (CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, etc).
  • Must have good communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in multi-vendor environments and element managers
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Be able to deliver an excellent customer service.

Technical Requirements:

Experience in one or more of the following technologies:

  • Good understanding TCP/IP
  • Good understanding FTTH and related technologies.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting network elements using SSH/CLI
  • Good understanding of Office 365
  • Exposure to Salesforce is desirable but not essential

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise
  • Attention to detail
  • Desire and motivation to learn and ability to advance skill level
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written English
  • Ability to work unsupervised

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Indigo is recruiting for an enthusiastic NOC engineer to join their global network monitoring team in Magor, Wales. The role involves reactive and proactive action on alarms as wells as performance analysis on a 365x24x7, 12 hours shift pattern, 4 days on/4 days off rota:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and manage the response to alarms, prioritizing severity and perform initially troubleshooting.
  • Raise, update, and follow up trouble tickets.
  • Engage 2nd and 3rd lines, field services and third parties whenever necessary and coordinate spares replacement and evasive manoeuvres.
  • Keep the management team up to date regarding critical faults and take part in Route Cause Analysis meetings.
  • Proactively analyse data from Network Monitoring Tools and determine best course of action to help prevent faults from happening.
  • Create or update internal documentation regarding actions taken to sort specific case scenarios so that information can be shared among the team.
  • Respect customer SLAs
