GPS / DRONE MANAGER

Funston Company located in Leland, North Carolina is seeking a GPS/Drone Manager to oversee our aerial and ground-based positioning systems and ensure the successful integration of drone technology into our daily workflows.
Funston Company is a locally owned and operated site construction company that has been in business for over twenty years. Funston Company is based out of Leland, NC and services developers, general contractors and municipalities throughout southeastern North Carolina.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Preferred bachelor’s degree in surveying, civil engineering, or a closely related field.
· FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required.
· 2+ years of experience in land surveying, geomatics, or construction layout.
· Strong background in GPS equipment (Trimble, Leica, or similar) and drone mapping software (Pix4D, DroneDeploy, Propeller, Civil 3D, etc.).
· Solid understanding of construction surveying practices, site layout, and grading workflows.
· Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication abilities.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

· Manage, maintain, and operate GPS equipment and drone technology for surveying and machine control on construction projects.
· Plan and execute drone flights for topographic surveys, site progress monitoring, earthwork calculations, and as-built documentation.
· Process drone imagery and GPS data into accurate survey-grade maps, models, and reports.
· Ensure compliance with FAA Part 107 regulations, site safety protocols, and company standards.
· Troubleshoot equipment issues, schedule maintenance, and coordinate upgrades to keep technology at peak performance.
· Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and superintendents to provide precise data that drives construction decisions.
· Assisting with field surveys using GPS and robotic total stations
· Collecting and recording accurate field data
· Maintaining Accurate Field Book/Notes
· Interpreting site plans and communicating with clients, staff, and subcontractors
· Clearing brush and marking property corners or boundaries
· Helping maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment
· Working outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain
· Ability to lift and haul equipment and materials weighing 50+ pounds
