JOB SUMMARY

The role of the GPS-NMP Technician is to assist with planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of the GPS field operation. This position will develop, implement, and maintain nutrient management plans for customers and will be responsible for covering Northeast Wisconsin.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and have strong time management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Suite Office products, including but not limited to Excel, and Word.
  • Demonstrated ability to transfer electronic records between devices and applications.
  • Ability to assess data and make technically sound correlations regarding animal health and herd performance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, farm management and farm labor in English.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit to grow AgSource services and attract new member herds in the service territory.
Responsibilities
  • Develop knowledge about the role of NMP and GPS and how it relates to growing the business.
  • Learn, develop, implement, and maintain nutrient management plans that comply with the NRCS Code 590 Nutrient Management or other regulatory agencies.
  • Operate and coordinate the GPS sampling and data collection activities provided by AgSource.
  • Maintain detailed records of field data and samples collected.
  • Generate maps and files as directed by client’s requests.
  • Have or work to obtain CCA certification and learn about trends in the industry that are related to your role.
  • Provide feedback to the GPS/NMP Supervisor on interactions with clients and be accountable to goals and objectives of the GPS/NMP team.
  • Responsible for supplies and the maintenance and repairs of all GPS field unit equipment.
  • Promote and adhere to safety in the workplace.
  • Use personal protective and safety equipment as required.
  • Follow safe work procedures and report unsafe conditions and injuries immediately.
  • Participate in safety meetings and safety committees.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with dealers, extension personnel, and other agribusiness agents.
  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned.
