Description

Soundview is a small independent school for children from Early Childhood through 8th Grade. We offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary and Middle Years programs in multi-age classrooms. The curriculum is inquiry-based, grounded in principles of social justice and environmental sustainability, and promotes student action.
The Grade 3/4 teaching position is an exciting opportunity for a progressive, collaborative, inquiry-minded teacher in the Primary Years. The teacher partners to deliver six IB units of inquiry to their multi-age class of students. In addition, the teacher uses a foundational literacy and numeracy curriculum and collaborates with specialist teachers to integrate Spanish, art, music, library, and physical education into the units.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA or BS from an accredited college or university.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and knowledge of child development.
  • Classroom experience and/or teaching certificate preferred.
  • IB and independent school experience preferred.
  • Experience in other subject areas, educational technology, service learning, and/or design thinking is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Create an inclusive, respectful, and nurturing classroom that supports the academic and social-emotional growth of all students.
  • Work closely with colleagues and parents to support student learning and well-being.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure all unit planning, instruction, assessment, and reporting aligns with IB principles and practices.
  • Perform various supervisory duties.
  • Engage in ongoing program review and revision.
  • Participate fully in the life of the school and students, including weekend and evening events.
