Job Description: Grade 3 Physiotherapist – Timely Emergency Care / General Medicine Casual Position: 6 hour shifts on Saturday / Sunday / Public Holidays Work commencing February 2026 Senior leadership opportunity Friendly and dynamic team About the Role An opportunity currently exists for an experienced qualified senior physiotherapist to join the physiotherapy department on a casual basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high quality, overall physiotherapy management and expert discharge planning to the acute general medical patients as part of the Timely Emergency Care initiative (TEC), based at the Fitzroy campus of St Vincent’s Hospital. This position involves taking a leadership role within weekend workforce and on the general medicine multidisciplinary team. Applications from current grade two and three physiotherapists will be considered. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic physiotherapist to join a cohesive and progressive integrated team, committed to excellence in clinical practice, research and professional development. Must have, or be currently eligible for, National Physiotherapist Registration. Classifications for this position will be VB7 – VC1 ($52.70000 - $60.21315 per hour) plus 25% casual loading. Duties include Provide leadership and co-ordination of the general medicine units across a weekend. Provide assessment and clinical management to patients in the acute general medical units. Communicate assessment and treatment outcomes to nursing, medical and other Allied Health staff via documentation. Provide a tertiary level of consultancy in outlying wards as required. Involvement in multidisciplinary ward meetings and planning. Provide supervision for other weekend physiotherapy staff and Allied Health Assistants, as required. Communicate accurate handover information for ongoing physiotherapy management for all patients. Your contribution Minimum seven years of post-graduate experience. Post-graduate qualification in relevant area of physiotherapy (or working towards) would be highly regarded. Broad experience in and knowledge of physiotherapy management in an acute setting. Demonstrated leadership skills and extensive experience in the supervision and professional development of physiotherapists, students and support staff. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
