YOUR PROFILE

  • Education: An appropriate college or university degree (teaching subject specific) from an accredited higher education institute
  • Certification: Up-to-date credentials required for the assigned teaching position. These credentials must be issued by a national or state certification board or its equivalent, and this credential must be recognized by the Bavarian Education Authorities
  • Desired experience: A minimum of two years of comparable teaching experience in an international school or IB school

ABOUT US

The Bavarian International School gAG (BIS) is an international all-day school consisting of a campus in the north of Munich (in Haimhausen) and a campus in Munich-Schwabing. Around 1,200 students from more than 60 nations between the ages of 3 and 18 attend the recognized IB World School including kindergarten. Under the motto “Believe. Inspire. Responsibilities
  • Collaboratively plan, implement and deliver the Grade 6 program being humanities, English (language and literature), mathematics, science, mentor and PSHE - a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum
  • Contribute to the interdisciplinary program within Grade 6 and mentor the Service as Action program within Grade 6
  • Meet fortnightly with the Secondary Principal as part of the Grade 6 team
  • Liaise with the Student Services and pastoral teams
  • Assist in the maintenance and development of transition and curriculum continuity between the Primary Schools and Secondary School
  • Develop a curriculum-related field trip and events program and liaise with outside providers as appropriate
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current developments in your specific subjects and MYP teaching and assessment practices through continuous professional development
  • Facilitate the acquisition of languages and understanding of culture by communicating in English and by promoting German and other languages
  • Promote international-mindedness throughout our curriculum by exploring our diversity of culture, language and experience while gaining insights from the unique perspective of our German host culture
  • Organise, communicate and deliver a Grade 6 parent information session at the beginning of each academic year and twice more during the course of the year in conjunction with the Secondary School Principal Meetings schedule
  • Monitor student performance and engage all relevant parties on strategies for improvement where necessary
  • Communicate with parents appropriately through events such as Parents’ Evenings, reports and emails – in accordance with the BIS Contact Guide
  • Develop the use of iPad one to one technology and relevant software as learning tools within the classroom and as an extension of the MS program
