POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a qualified and committed teacher to deliver AMU1O (Grade 9 Music) during our Fall 2025 term. This is a part-time, in-person role scheduled for five 110-minute periods per week, likely during Period 1 each day, Monday to Friday, from September 2 to November 28.
The ideal candidate brings confidence in classroom delivery, experience guiding students through musical literacy and performance, and the professional reliability required to manage the documentation and reporting expectations of a Ministry-inspected school course. For the right teacher, there may also be an opportunity to take on Preparatory school music (Grades 1–8) as a separate part-time role. For the prefered candidate, we would schedule these together.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related discipline
  • Teaching experience in a school or structured private studio setting
  • Experience preparing students for formal music assessments or guiding musical development in a structured setting
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Arts Curriculum and Growing Success
  • Royal Conservatory certification or equivalent experience with music pedagogy is considered a strong asset
  • Strong command of English and confidence communicating with students and families in a school context
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency is required
Responsibilities
  • Teach AMU1O in-person, following a daily 110-minute block (M–F, likely Period 1)
  • Modify and maintain a course outline that reflects Ontario expectations and supports a 110-hour inspected credit
  • Prepare and post all required assessment and evaluation materials, including unit plans, success criteria, and rubrics
  • Create and maintain a well-organized course page in the LMS, ensuring timely communication with students and families
  • Track all assessments, feedback, and due dates in the school’s online gradebook (Blackbaud)
  • Archive major student work samples, tests, and final assignments for internal records and inspection
  • Submit midterm reports, participate in parent interviews, and complete report card comments and marks on schedule
  • Provide clear expectations and ongoing feedback through learning conversations, coaching, and in-class conferencing
  • Maintain an orderly classroom that supports musical engagement while holding high academic expectations
  • Contribute to a school culture that values structure, accountability, and creativity in equal measure
