WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking candidates with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in grading or excavation, along with proven leadership experience in a construction environment. You should have a strong understanding of soil types, compaction, and drainage, and be confident in reading and interpreting construction drawings and grade stakes. Proficiency in operating and directing heavy equipment is essential, as are excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the Grading Foreman, you will be responsible for supervising grading crews, coordinating excavation and base preparation, and ensuring that all site grading activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will lead and manage a team of grading professionals, including equipment operators and laborers, ensuring that tasks are assigned effectively and that performance meets productivity and quality expectations. You will interpret blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes to guide the work on-site, ensuring proper slope, elevation, and compaction of surfaces. In this role, you will enforce safety protocols in line with OHSA and company policies, conduct daily safety meetings and site inspections, and ensure the correct use of PPE and safe operation of all heavy equipment. You will also inspect completed work to ensure it meets project specifications and tolerances, and proactively address any issues related to soil conditions, drainage, or equipment.
